ALYSSA ROSE’S FULL DISCLOSURE

About Alyssa / Full Disclosure

Alyssa’s blog is meant to be a tool for teachers to use to find new technology ideas to use in their classroom, including resources on how to create their own classroom blog. Alyssa posts links to websites that are helpful for teachers in the topics of technology, blogs, and free downloadable apps. She does not get paid from any of these sites for posting them on her blog! (She subscribes to the idea that teachers should have free resources!)

It is her deepest hope that she can change the culture of at least one classroom environment through the use of technology. (More than one, would obviously be welcome!) Stay tuned to see what she finds next!

Bringing Home the Bacon

Alyssa is currently an Agency Services Associate for The Hanover Insurance Company. She performs tech support for agents calling in with issues regarding the ISO, PMS, POS, and TAP software programs affiliated with the company. Also, she is currently entertaining the idea of online teaching, since she started taking her masters classes in Educational Technology through Boise State University. Before Alyssa joined the business world, she taught for three years in Tennessee in a middle school and high school setting.

Blogging? You? Really?

I guess so. It is only my first attempt and so I am still working out the kinks and finding my own unique style. I started my Blog on WordPress.com about three weeks ago and so there are still many improvements to be made. I am looking forward to the future of my blog and what it will hopefully accomplish.

I don’t write for any other blogs, but would love to in the future. WordPress.com is a free blog site and so I do not get paid to blog. My dream as a child was to be an author, so I won’t lie to you; if I could get paid for writing, I would gladly accept it and quit my day job!

DISCLOSURES

Business ties:  I work for The Hanover Insurance Group, but since my blog is educational, I won’t be promoting insurance.

Media ties:  I do not have any media ties.

Stocks: I don’t have stocks.

Religion: My blog is strictly about educational technology resources, not a religious platform.

Politics: I consider myself to be stuck somewhere in the middle when it comes to politics. Basically when it comes to politics, I tend to favor the side that will do the most for education. The problem with this is that everybody lies, (Hey! Dr. House said that!) and so sometimes it’s hard to know who will really help education and who will hinder progress. Anyways, this blog will in no way be my soapbox, but in the blogging section, there will be tidbits about privacy laws to be taken into consideration when creating a blog. Otherwise, we’ll leave the politics to the people who actually care.

A FEW QUESTIONS

1. Please list your other current employers, whether full time or part time.

The Hanover Insurance Group

2. For what other employers have you worked in the last three years?

Spring Hill High School

Hickman County Middle School

3. What sort of volunteer work do you do regularly?

Sadly, I have no projects that I’m working with right now. There are a plethora of opportunities at Hanover for volunteer work and so I will most likely help out there soon. For now, I will consider my blog as volunteer work for the benefit of teachers.

4. Do you do any work paid or unpaid in politics or government or lobbying?

Absolutely not.

5. Do you have any financial ties that may limit your ability to cover specific topics?

No financial investments to speak of, other than my retirement fund, which I can safely say is unfortunately pretty insignificant. We’ll leave the financial matters to people who know what they’re talking about.

6.  Do any of your spouse’s or family’s professional or personal involvements make certain topics inappropriate for you, and if so, what are the topics?

No, although my husband doesn’t have a filter, which is probably why it’s a good thing I’m blogging and not him. J

7. Have you accepted anything free from a group or company or media source for something that you’ve written or promoted?

No, I have not.

8. Has anything you’ve written ever been retracted for falsifying information, libel or slander?

No, I have never had those issues.
